Belief that ghosts exist has grown over 400% in the last four decades in the United States. Translated into concrete figures, 46% of Americans believe in ghosts compared to 11% in the 1970s.
A study by Ipsos Poll shows that a quarter of Americans report not only believing in ghosts but also seeing them.Interestingly, while ghosts are often thought to be scary, many people who believe in them see them as a "friendly memory" of those who have been separated from life. The movie "Ghostbusters" is thought to have something to do with this attitude.
